Dany Heatley requests trade

People on here seem to be vastly overrating their team's players. I at least offered a #4 defenseman, a 25-goal scorer, and the rights to a starter with play-off experience.

I think any deal involving SJ would have to include 1 of Boyle or Erhoff. I think the Sens will look for a offensive defensemen as a center piece of a deal. I think Boyle has a NTC but was born in Ottawa. What about...

Dan Boyle + Jonathon Cheechoo
for
Dany Heatley + Jason Smith

then trade
Michalek +
for
Souray +

Heatley replaces Michalek
Souray replaces Boyle and from the Oilers P.O.V., Oilers trade Souray because they sign JBO
I would Do Erhoff NOT BOYLE...ERHOFF + Cheechoo for Heatley...PLS Not Souray

Figure out a way to get him in Vancouver - that is all I ask (oh and manage to do it while keeping Hodgson). I am OK with Bieksa being part of the package heading the other way.

And for those of you clammoring that the Sens don't need a goalie because they picked up LeClaire - that guy has played 3/4 of one season, granted he played quite well but I don't think another goalie is going to hurt. Not saying they are going to rush out and pick up Huet but maybe a vet or a guy in the minors that has a couple years to get ready.

Heatley can't go to San Jose. It goes against their system; he's a star who actually performs in the play-offs.
Once again, people overvaluing players; you think any team will consider Cheechoo as any sticking point for a superstar? Let alone a superstar and a physical (yet old) defenseman? Keep dreaming. Replace Cheechoo and his 12 goals with Clowe and take Smith out and you've probably got a deal.

The sens will not trade heatley for a goalie is the big thing, theres talk of them signing Brodeur to add a bit of depth.

Hodgson in Vancouver or Ottawa is fine by me...

I feel kinda worried after reading those last proposals. I wouldn't even move Fisher for that :p

I we really need to move Heater it would be for Pred's Weber and a pick, or similiar from another team

I'm a Oilers fan but I won't comment. Although on another board, a fan asked if they would do a Gagner + Gilbert for Heatley and alot are saying no. They don't want to trade Gagner but are willing to give up Cogliano. What about
Heatley + pick or a avg.prospect
for
Gilbert, O'Sullivan, Cogliano, and the 2010 1st round pick
(similiar to what you offered) I would be hesitant to do this and I'm sure alot of the Oilers fans will be against it. Personally, if the Oilers can sign a decent defenseme, I would see if Souray is willing to go to Ottawa. Souray + Cogliano for Heatley?

I think that offer is a bit much. Souray is a powerhouse d-man, no way he gets put into a package like that for Heatley. I also doubt that the Oilers would be willing to trade both O'Sullivan and Cogliano. I see it like this:
Tom Gilbert
O'Sullivan OR Cogliano
Robert Nillson
2nd round pick

for

Heatley
Chris Kelly

O'Sullivan will take Heatley's spot along side Spezza and Alfredsson, and will score 30 goals this coming season, 35-40 the year after. Coglaino could see similar numbers, but isn't the natural goal scorer O'Sullivan looks like. Gilbert is a Powerplay QB, something Ottawa is desperate for. Robert Nillson, despite his inconsistent play, is still a potential first line player, and could likely slip into a second line spot along side Fisher and contribute to Ottawa immediately.

I'm sure the Preds wouldn't do that trade. They aren't exactly in a great financial situation, so taking on salary is doubtful.

Man....really, people are REALLY overpricing their players...O'Sullivan is good, but come on man, this is a premier goal scorer in the NHL. Nillson is basically a dud. Try O'Sullivan, Gilbert, a pick, and Hemsky.

Fact is, when a player demands a trade, he never gets full market value. Gilbert is what Ottawa is missing in a powerplay defenseman, and a guy who can play on the top pair. The way trades in this situation work out, you may be lucky to get any other roster players. History dictates that these trades are often superstar for good player, prospects/picks. Its not NHL 09, its the business of the NHL, and despite Heatley being one hell of a good player, Murray really is behind the 8-ball because he essentially HAS TO trade him. The Sens will not get what is considered to be full market value for Heatley, Gilbert/Cogliano/Nillson is likely the best offer that Murray will hear.

Sorry, but Murray WOULD be banished for that. Gilbert isn't near good enough a defenseman to get Heatley with only Cogs and Nilsson.
