I have sold a Ryan Getzlaf jersey card to someone who had the last name of Getzlaf. They lived in Western Canada. I had asked them if they were related and they told me that Ryan was his cousin and Ryan tried to collect cards of himself and gets him to just buy them.
We made a deal and I sent another jersey card to him and he sent me a Calgary Hitmen auto postcard/picture and Ryan personalized it himself. It took me a while to get my end and just assumed that I had been taken. I still have it in my PC and it will never leave. Not worth much money at all but a cool story for me.
Scott Hartnell is a collector for sure, bought an early 2000's UD Jersey card of himself from me. Also, lots of parents / family members: Hecht, Puppa, Janik, come to mind.
On the other side of the coin, I buy cards of players with the same name as myself.![]()
haha I was looking through Hockey's Future and came across a kid named Matt Tomkins....My name is Matt Tompkins.
If he ever makes it to the NHL you better bet I"m PCing him LOL

lol My name is Ameet and unless I collect Cricket cards, there is a snowball's chance in hell that I will find someone with my name on the North American sports card scene.
I recently sold a 12-13 Artifacts Triple jersey card to a Scott Hartnell that featured him along with JVR & Voracek!
