Anybody with thoughts on these?

MacKinnon 7 years 6.3 AAV
Scheifele 8 years 6.125 AAV

I think both teams have to be happy locking these guys up at a decent price. I was really impressed with Scheifele last year and really think he made the leap to a 1st line player and should be a player that Winnipeg can build around. I don't think MacKinnon will end up being a superstar but he too looks like he will at least be a first line guy for the next decade. Good deal for both plays and teams.

My best,

Ken

The $6-million and seven year range is where most of the big RFA's are signing, with the exception of Ekblad who got over $7-million. That is a decent number and term to lock up young stars who could very well be playing at a level beyond their pay scale in a few years. Some of these guys will be cap friendly steals for their teams.

I'm happy to see MacKinnon get signed, now if only he could get back to (or exceed) his rookie year production.

MacKinnon is a true game breaker and has some of the most ridiculous wheels currently in the NHL. I think he could have gotten $7-8 per so nice deal for the Avs.

Scheifele is underrated and I think this is a good deal on him for the Jets as he has a lot of potential.

I'm not surprised by both of these deals as they are typical, dollar-wise what player's of their calibre should get. Both are good players, but neither have proven to be superstars, imo. Both are young, first liners and will be an important part of each team's future.

I think I speak for all of Winnipeg that we are so stoked to get Scheif locked up to a big long term deal.

Future C, IMO.

Excellent signing for both teams!! Until last year, Scheif was looking like a let-down but he sure came through!! Gonna be a great player for the Jets as long as they use him right!!
Mackinnon is a stud, if he stays off the third line he's gonna be a beast in the very near future. Roy needs to make better use of him, some of the best skill/speed mix in the game today, just a matter of if he realizes his own potential.
