Show me those speared White Whales!!

After 13 years I speared this elusive whale last spring.

I try not to keep an active list of white whales, there would be several to hunt for, and I wouldn't want to be actively searching for them every day. My collecting journey is much more relaxing these days. But when a card comes along that sends my love for this hobby off the charts, I consider that to be a white whale acquisition. The "G" from Panini Prime came to me from eBay in 2023, and completed a nameplate that I had started in late 2012. It is now framed and on the wall in my den.

The Hardware Heroes is a card that I never thought I would own. I saw them on eBay back when they were released almost 2 decades ago, although I don't remember if I ever saw one of the Iginla versions. This card came to me at a local show late last year. An older gentleman had it in his showcase, and I couldn't believe my eyes. Possible the biggest white whale I will ever have.

Found my #1 Ryan O’Reilly grail at the Spring Expo 2024, roughly 15 minutes before closing. Still amazed I was able to purchase this card after nearly 14 years of searching.

Hey man, nice to see you here on HI. And yeah that card was a tough one to track down! Still looking for that Gold Spectrum /5 to complete the 8-card rainbow.

I have been looking for this since the release back in 2008-09. It finally showed up on eBay and I made a quick offer to the seller and he accepted. It goes nicely with its other half
