Well it's been almost 3 years since Dr. Price put out his final, and my personal favourite, ITG product: Lord Stanley's Mug. I fell in love with the product at first sight - of course those Mega Patches were all so drool-worthy, but so many other great insert sets as well featuring playoff heroes past & present. At first I thought I could only handle chasing the main set excluding all parallels and 1/1's, but then I couldn't help myself, I started acquiring Mega Patches, and when the chase slowed I said to heck with it, I want 'em all!
Last night I hit a couple huge milestones in this quest - both thanks to a deal with Mel (syzygy). If I had to pick a favourite insert set beyond the Mega Patches, it would be the Game-Used Sticks. This set consists of 60 cards, 40 skaters and 20 goalies, all 1/1's. Until last night I had 10 goalies and 19 skaters... the Bob Gainey stick I added from Mel takes me up to the 50% mark with 20 out of 40 skaters - and 30 out of 60 in the overall set! And that's not all... this marks my 184th 1/1 from the product as a whole, which is exactly 40% of the 460 total 1/1's in Lord Stanley's Mug! I'm not sure I've ever seen as obsessive a 1/1 collection from one set - which probably means I have a severe case of OCD and need help, lol
But I've enjoyed every minute of the chase... I know it's going to get harder and harder as time marches on, but maybe, just maybe, one day I'll hit the 50% mark for the product as a whole! Until then, enjoy the half of the Game-Used Stick set that I own.
