Verified Trader,
so once in a while i do these longer story posts, i thought some others might be interested in a newb selling on COMC
a couple of years back, Jeremy had the owner (i think) of COMC on Sportscards Live. he was getting hammered on shipping questions as they were 9 months plus behind and I remember thinking he was insane saying they would have their backlog cleaned up in 3-6 months. The focus seemed to be on listing cards, not shipping sold items and i basically stopped even looking at them as an opportunity to purchase from. I dont know when they caught up, but i do know Dec 16, 2022 I had a shipment that i requested under regular shipping arrived Jan 12 2023. from my perspective shipping issues fixed
Now to selling, I know Ameet and Jeremy and others have been doing this for years, and I have a ton of cards that were worth selling but never made it on to my ebay free listings. Ameet happily answered some of my questions and helped me feel more confident about the process. So i went through them, the goal was 300 cards for a test. I ended up with 305.
i checked for cards that had sold in the last year using terapeak and 130 point with sales over $4USD and under $75. My next filter was less than 3 of the same card currently on COMC and pricing that i could be the lowest by at least $1 or 10% whichever was greater.
Now the premise for this is i want to sell these cards, but they are more than $1-2 bin cards. Copies have sold in the last year, so there is some interest. I felt selling them required having them listed constantly, but that wouldnt work on ebay for me. Im not prepared to do shows and I wanted to try out the system
the regular processing rate of .50 per card made sense for me. 4 months to process....$1 each gets you 2 week turnaround, but these have sat for years, even 10 years or more in some cases and i wanted to minimize my costs on the shipment.
here is the funny thing, my order arrived Mar 16, and i received an acknowledgement email the same day. My first card was processed Apr 10 and I have 2 left as of today. So just over 2 months for basically full processing.......super happy. They typically showed up in groups of 20 or so sometimes every other day
The system is fantastic in terms of inventory management, tells you how many competing items, exact prices etc. I had done research ahead of time so it was simple to add prices in and then save for sale. I am not accepting offers, i have the lowest price on the site for every current card and may be a little lower than the sold ebay item again remembering only one may have sold and many were listed. If someone is buying, i want it to be mine!
Ive already sold 41 cards for $336 and i consider this to be free money going forward, shipment was about $60 through fedex, .50 per card to process/list, so im around 150 there. Sales are a 5% fee i think , then 10% more at cashout or you can just keep the credit to buy other items
Love this system, i will be looking through the boxes for all cards that should sell if priced correctly and not bother with ebay anymore.
If anyone has any questions, feel free to reach out, but I am VERY satisfied with this first crack at it
