new expo owner, what would you change...

I also vote that they remove the guy who does the autograph announcements and replace him with Toronto Card Show owner Frank Williamson. If there's a more macho voice in this hobby, I have yet to hear it.

These votes are starting to pile up! :)

I think the combination of Steve and Al running the show now will see a gradual transition over the years now that there's some new blood. Don't expect massive changes over night. Steve needs to see a full weekend or two in action. But I have confidence in the direction.

For what its worth, have recently had a couple of friends who are not associated with the hobby ask me if I'm going to the "big show" this weekend, stating they heard some radio ads about it. Not sure if this has always been done, but the first time I've taken notice. Would be awesome to make this show even bigger and busier!

We've all seen the ads in the paper before. They're usually 1/4 page ads and sometimes smaller. The ones that were in Tuesday's paper were half page full colour. Seems like they're ironing out the paper ads quite well.

I would suggest allowing online sale of tickets up until Sunday at noon. I just went on to buy my tickets for tomorrow and the online sale had ended already which seemed bizarre to me.

better organization for the autograph lines why the 500 people getting alomar had to wait in the same line as the 50 people getting devon white is beyond me

this is a sports memorabilia show so get rid of the pepperette guy, the girl handing out paint ball coupons, the lady with the table full of junk jewelry

$13.50 for two slices of pizza and a bottle of water was a little over kill

Im not a prude and probably use the word more then any one on here but if I walk up to your booth with my 9 year old and 5 year old maybe we can put the F bombs aside for a minute?

Overall I had a great show, wish I was still there today and cant wait for the fall but there is always room for improvement :)

This show had so much blue language it was pathetic.

Were there any noticeable changes at the Spring Expo?

The only change that stuck out in my mind was the lack of parking. I had to park roughly a kilometer away and walk. Not opposed to walking but carrying the 4 full 5000 count boxes of cards I got would have been a chore had it not been for my friend lending me his fridge cart.

The International Centre also hosted a motor bike show the same weekend, and other shows, but the motor bike show had a huge draw and they took most of the parking. If I hadnt driven an hour to get there I would have just turned around and left.

Parking was a major problem Saturday. I had no idea people loved motor bikes that much...mind you they might be saying the same thing about hockey cards lol.

Sunday was slow because of weather I believe. Not much you can do about that but make it later in April to try and avoid bad weather as much as possible.

I believe there were five different events going on at the International Centre that weekend, but the big one was the motorcycle show. Aside from drawing a ton of bike enthusiasts, a lot of the guys also have trailers which took up a ton of space. I'm sure that will addressed for the next Expo and frankly, that's not an Expo issue, it's a City of Mississauga and International Centre problem.

I think the move forward a month was a great idea. One day of bad weather beats three of great, "Hey, screw the Expo, we're going to the cottage!" weather. But I do know the plans are to have it a little deeper in April next time around.

Man, I went when the show opened on Friday and parked almost right beside the main entrance. Guess it's all in the timing...

Id say the parking issue is an Expo issue. Not their fault but something they can address with the venue. I would have left and not attended the expo had I not driven an hour to get there. How many others said screw it and left?
anyways, the expo overall was amazing as usual.

I have been on a hiatius from the hobby since last November but I frequent the boards to read or add to some of the posts and my question is "has anyone offered an invitation to the new Expo owner to join HI?".
