NHL Debuts 2011-12

It appears that the Canucks will have Eddie Lack backing up Cory Schneider tonight as Luongo is D-to-D with some upper/lower body injury that the team won't reveal.

Frederic St- Denis debuted last night for MTL
Eddie Lack sat as a backup for VAN

Brendan Smith is primed to debut tonight for DET

Anders Nilsson debuted from NYI

Leaving only Boston, Vancouver, Dallas, San Jose and St Louis from having a debut thus far.

Autographs

After seeing Certified's autograph checklist I was inspired to do a little detective work. Panini appears to have been busy tracking down players this summer and start of season. The combined releases of ITG, UD and Panini, the biggest contributor, have given us autographs of all but 9 of the 46 carryovers. This is an incredibly high ratio compared to other years. Of those 9 players two, Lee Sweatt and Joel Martin, can be omitted because they don't even have regular cards. That leaves us with 7 carryover RCs who don't have an autograph. 4 of those players; Andre Benoit, Roman Wick, Andrei Zubarev and Todd Ford, have all signed contracts overseas and could likely not be tracked down. I don't expect any company to go through that much trouble to track down 4 unknowns. Now we are down to 3 players, all New York Islanders!?

Jamie Doornbosch played 1 game on a one day amateur tryout contract. It was his only pro hockey game as he spent the rest of the year in the OHL with Kitchener. He has sine fallen off of the hockey world and elected to play with Saint Mary's University of the AUS hockey league this year.

Shane Sims is a similar story. He spent the majority of last year playing amateur college hockey and his only NHL game was a on a one day tryout contract. He's currently playing in the ECHL and as far as I can tell without an NHL contract.

Matt Campanale is the only player here who I believe could still get into an autograph set, maybe in something like SPA. While he too played last season in amateur hockey and only had a one game stint with the Islanders, he is, however, currently signed to an NHL contract and playing in the ECHL.

Few new debuts to note;

Dmitri Orlov for Washington
David Ullstrom for the New York Islanders
Marc-Andre Bourdon for the Philadelphia Flyers
Kevin Marshall also for the Philadelphia Flyers

If I remember correctly a player on a one day amateur try-out can't have a rc card. Same thing that happened to braydan schenn and nazam kadri a couple of years back. They had to wait tell they signed NHL deals to be included.

Goalies Matt Hackett and Mike Murphy debuted last night... Hackett dressed for a game last year, but this was his first time seeing the ice.
