Offical 2014 NHL Draft Discussion Thread

I was hoping for Ehler to Toronto, it would have been great to have a talented Moosehead in the system. Nylander is good but I don't know what to think either. He looks scrawny.

I've heard he's a puck hog. We'll see, I guess? Still wish they would have fired Nonis. He's really done nothing much to make this team better, since Burke was let go.

This is what concerns me about Nylander (highly skilled?):

The 18-year-old, who’s the son of former NHL star Michael Nylander, spent this past season playing professional hockey in Sweden. He played 40 games in the Allsvenskan, scoring five goals and 15 points between Södertälje and Rögle.

Darn, I was hoping that Ehlers would go to a more exciting team than the Jets.

And I'd be REALLY peeved if I was a Pens fan right now. They got hosed on that trade.

Come on, you really don't think Kesler makes Anaheim a better team for playoffs and only helps on paper? This deal helps A TON with our playoff run.

Damn James Neal going to Nashville. Hope they can land something good for him. James never really fit for whatever reason on the top line, but did have some pretty good chemistry with Geno.

Edit- Neal for Hornqvist and Spaling. Not a happy Penguins fan here.

Another not real happy Pens fan... but since he had asked for a trade and he took enough stupid penalties at really bad times, I seen this coming. Hornqvist is not a bad player, should be able to increase his production playing with Geno if that is where he ends up..

You will forget Neal soon enough with Hornqvist. I actually think he will out score Neal and maybe gel with Crosby!!!

I hope your right... I know Hornqvist has speed and skill, but the Pens need some grit and toughness ...I wonder if there is more to come in trades for the Pens? Letang? Scuderi (God I hope so!)?

If Hornqvist can keep up the pace of his scoring near the end of the season, you pens fans will be happy(he did very well for me in my hockey pool). And considering he did it on Nashville, is quite promising for you I think.

This is coming from a neutral fan (stars fan) :p

Thrilled with my team. Dal Colle is amazing and if they can get Ho-Sangs head on straight he has world class talent. They took a chance with Kabanov a couple of years ago and fell short. Hopefully this time it works!!!

I was surprised that canes took Fleury. It does make sense since they're pretty thin back there. But pretty high pick for a 2nd line dman.

Leafs surprised me by taking Nylander. Who's their euro scout? No doubt this guy is talented. He's already playing in a men's league, I think. Maybe Nonis sees potential Sedins in him. Ritchie was more what the Leafs need now, but I guess top 5 skill too enticing.

I already like Benning, a lot. Able to close deals and probably made best pitch to Florida. Even then made most of picks. And traded for younger player like Vey who is just on cusp of making the NHL full time. I'm actually pretty excited about the new direction Canucks are going.

Neal wanted out and at least he didn't have a NTC. Pens have some cap issues too, but haven't checked to see how this helps them cap-wise.

Loving the selection of Ehlers for the Jets. He's a project and will benefit from more time with the Mooseheads, but damn is he shifty and skilled. So excited to see him down the road in Winnipeg.
