Shawn, I agree with you bro, Stastny got overpaid by St. Louis based on what he had been doing in CO. I have seen quite a few Avs games in person and he has been so sporadic in his production. FA years always change everything. He nutted up and got paid big like most guys do in the final year of a deal.
Hopefully the Avs make some moves so I can see even more Kings games in person in the years to come.
He may be relatively overpaid at the moment, but it's just the nature of the UFA market. Some of the contracts signed yesterday were absolutely ridiculous. I mean, if Brooks Orpik and Jarome Iginla are going for around 5-6 million, then Stastny is certainly worth 7 mil. Plus, with the inflation of salaries in the NHL and growth of the salary cap, this won't look like quite as much in a couple years relative to others.
