I did not see how exactly Brooks Laich was hurt moments ago, but he came off the ice in obvious pain, covering his left eye/side of his face. He walked into an area that is off limits to media, called for head athletic trainer Greg Smith and then dropped to his knees.
Coach Bruce Boudreau, several teammates and the training staff rushed to his side and got him back up to his feet.

Update: Laich was hurt when a shot by John Carlson hit the crossbar and deflected into his cheekbone area as the players messed around after practice. Early indications are that the injury is not critical. I'm sure Boudreau will address it soon.

Update: Boudreau indicated that Laich, who is one of the team's toughest players and has not missed a game since the 2006-07 season, has a cut under his left eye and is going to the hospital to get checked out.
"He got hit by a puck off the crossbar and post," Boudreau said. "He's going to [the hospital] to get sutchered up. I'm sure because it's in the face, they'll do all the precautionary stuff, do the X-ray and do whatever they have to do."
