Pros and Cons Of E-Pack - Let's discuss!

Probably mentioned already, but one horrible thing is UD's "we're not responsible for anything"-approach. Have your account hacked, have a shipment to COMC crash, it is all your fault.

Really? If the transfer to COMC fails, it's on you? That seems unreasonable.

love it. Wish it was made years earlier..from Finland. We dont have any hockeycard shop but one. Mostly I must made orders to Sweden. E-pack-idea perfect for Europe. There was a very hot card boom between 1990-2000 and it died fast. E-pack sure will get europeans collectors in.

Like Mika a couple of posts above, there are no cards shops or shows in my little country (UK), so I thought I would give e-pack a try. I've now got a few cards from free packs, and bought a box of SPGU which had a couple of Crosbys so I'm happy with that (I think).

My main point is that my PC is based around jersey numbered cards, which I snap up on ebay when I see them. I looked at the e-pack trade pages, and quickly found a couple of jersey-numbered cards that I would like (assuming the pictures show the actual numbered cards). Earlier posts say UD get upset if I contact the owners to buy them, so am I left with buying more cards I don't want in the hope I hit something on the owners wish list?

I have a few actual cards in hand that meet the wish list of one owner, but I'm sure I can't offer real UD cards in trade for e-pack ones.

Any suggestions?

You just have to ask around...And hope you get lucky and find something someone with a card you want needs.

It sounds like what you're looking for very specific though, and you might get better value buying cards of COMC or Ebay though. E Pack is also time consuming, as putting together the deals takes time.

One thing I do not understand with users on ePack - is some people's refusal to make deals for base cards.

I don't mean their disinterest in it... meh, whatever. If you buy a box of S1 or S2, all you care about are the YGs & bigger hits - and they're the only thing you're interested in trading for.... well, you're like most people that bust the physical boxes too.

But the base cards: They are literally worthless, if you don't combine them to 10 for Foils, or 10 Foils for Gold foils (using S1/S2 as the example, plenty of variation).

So - if someone offers you 8 base cards for 8 base cards, same series, reasonably similar players (or teams) - if you don't care about base cards - why would you refuse that trade?

I get someone offers you half a dozen Coyotes for half a dozen Leafs... you turn that down because the Leafs are a hotter commodity. Someone offers you a bunch of commons for Crosby, McDavid, Stamkos, Towes, Price, etc - Sure... you don't want to do that, because the Super Stars command a premium. Even if they are cards you don't care about - people don't like being "ripped off".

I just don't get why some users seem to get offended at the idea of base trades.
