The White Envelope thread!

Another White Envelope experience...

ebay seller: katattack_5

Two auto/jerseys wrapped and taped in cardboard and then in a nice paper thin white envelope.
Thankfully the cards did not get damaged, but bid with caution.

With the new eBay system not allowing sellers to leave negative feedback, I sure as hell hope you guys are doing the rest of the community a favour by leaving negs and mentioning the poor shipping practices of these people.

Another white envelope seller:

ebay id: germanhockey

Sent card in a plastic toploader and a european letter envelope, from Germany to Canada!
If anyone has ever received euro envelopes in the mail, they are even thinner than traditional north american white envelopes...so basically there wasn't even any protection whatsoever.

Amazingly, the card arrived pristine and I got a good deal, but he charged $3.00 to send the card in an envelope as sturdy as a sheet of toilet paper via overseas. Why would anyone with a 4400+ feedback do such a thing?

Anyways, my advise is bid with caution.
Cheers!

Received a white envelope today:
eBay seller eye4cards
Shipping $4
Card was sent in a top loader taped shut and an A4 folded around it and arrived in good condition...but the envelope was still white.

 - Awesome that a thread actually exists out there to address this issue. Long live the bubble mailer! Down with the white envelopes!:laugh:

ive been lucky and have never received one white envelope.(ive done my fair share of ebay buying as well) However, i have also been on both sides, buying and selling. I think there is a bit of a double standard when it comes to this issue. Buyers want cheap shipping and maximum protection for their purchase(bubble mailers) i would fit into this class too and would be mad if i received a card in an envelope. However, i would imagine that most card sellers are in a similar position as i am, this is not a full time job, just a way to make a few bucks on extra cards. Since i dont buy bubble mailers in bulk, they usually cost me close to $1 each. You add that to the average of $1.25-$1.50 it costs to ship within the US, and your already at over $2 cost. i dont know about other parts of the US, but Gas In CA is ridiculous, and even going 3 miles to the post office could cost close to $2 round-trip. Dont get me wrong, anything over $3 shipping in my eyes it too much, but in reality, it really is not. Us buyers almost force sellers to keep low shipping prices, which might be a reason why many are turning to PWE.

Just a thought, not taking sides

Well put

I get up at 5:25 a.m. every morning to eat, do push-ups and pumping, and bike 20 minutes to get to work in the morning. THen of course bike home after I finish. I also bike another 40+ minutes daily to mail things, get groceries, or just to get out...

Good stuff

Not a White envelop but a Yellow one and just the card and it was ruined and he wont give me my money back and the ebay seller is

garrison_cards

I hope you filed a complaint. All his auctions clearly state:

All cards are protected by soft and hard sleeve, and reinforced with an even stronger backing to insure safe delivery.

Surprisingly I have something to add here too, just received a ice signings card from 07-08 sweet shot in the mailt today in a white envelope.I paid 3 $ for shipping too so I'm kinda at odds why it came like that. It's not a big giant star or anything(P bergeron) and I won it at $ 3 too heheh, but point is it was in a white envelope.I never eceived a card in one before lol.
Here's my question though, being a newbie on this,Do i leave a neg or what?Or just email him,the guy has a bunch of good feedback and such...jeff888sara....
I'm not a big fan already though,I paid for it and I kinda wanted it sent the right way.Lol I wouldn't send a glass in a plain box lol.
cheers thnx for looking
mike

i just got one from a seller i wouldnt reccommend to anyone!

bert1630

i bought a rask ovation rc for .99 and $3 shipping. recieved in a white envelope and i still left + fb because it wasnt damaged. i said "thanks for the white envelope, got lucky its not damaged" in the feedback

i just recieved this lovely message from him:
"Your lucky i couldnt give you a negative.Because you would have gotten one.Your card was well protected and well packaged. That is the bottom line.Your card was delivered in mint condition and thats all that matters. You *** **** think a bubble envelope will protect a card better.Well a letter is easier to handle and not as likely to be squashed as a bulky bubble envelope.Needless to say you comments were rude and you wont be able to bid on my products anymore and i wont miss your business."

since when is tossing a card in a toploader and into a we well protected and packaged?

got one from germanhockey

20 dollars worth of cards, in a blue envelope, not even in toploaders. Cards were place between 2 FLIMSY cardboard pieces then taped.

I'm considering giving a neutral or neg, but I messaged the guy first. 3 bucks and there isnt' even a loader?!
