After watching Game 1 it is clear to me, much like the Pens in the East, the Wings are the class of the West and virtually unbeatable.

I think the Pens are much better than the Flyers. In the West I think Dallas is a much stronger opponent and makes for a tougher task for the Wings.

That said, the Motown guys aren't making it look too tough. I am in awe of this team. I gotta say, as much as I love Lidstrom, I am really taking a liking to Johan Franzen. He reminds me of an old Kings player I used to like a lot, Tomas Sandstrom.

I think everyone would agree that a Wings/Penguins Stanley Cup Final would be amazing to watch. I'm certainly rooting for that to happen (sorry Chris). I think it would be great for hockey. Both teams play pretty exciting hockey although the Wings are more defensive minded than the Pens. I say Wings in 7 but I wouldn't mind seeing Sid win his first Cup
 
Wings win a tight one in Game 2 and without THE MULE no less!:eek:

Any word on when Franzen will be back from his concussion-like symptoms?:confused:

I hope he gets nothing and the Wings flatten his butt in the next game! Osgood stuck his stick out to slow Ribeiro down as it looked as if he might run Nick into the boards and now 90% of Star's media and fans want to put the blame on Osgood.
Then you have Turco who punches Homer in the back of the head and slashed him in the legs and he calls Osgood "gutless".
Actually watching the Stars meltdown before my eyes is pretty humorous! Hopefully it keeps up in the next 2 games!

If he gets anything at all, it'll be ONE game. Last season, Pronger did worse to Holmstrom and McAmmond and only got a game each time.
Let's not forget that Osgood made it look like he was hit with an axe and not a hockey stick. He wins the best faker Oscar IMO

Can't disagree with that! I honestly thought the guy was hurt till I saw the replay!! He probably will get a game but I honestly would rather the boys on the ice handle it! Make's the game better anyway..:)
 
Heres an outsiders opinion as I don't really care which team wins the series. If Ribeiro is suspended, then Osgood should be aswell. Osgood buttended Ribeiro near the face, which was just as dangerous as the slash. The slash was not very hard, and was in an area of the chest where there is a large amount of protection. Osgood and every other goalie routinely takes 90+ mph shots to the exact same area and doesn't hurt, the slash had no where near that kind of force.

Ok, I'll give you those 2 getting suspended but if they are should Turco get suspended for slashing homer in the back of the legs, punching him in the back of the head and tripping Filppula while he skated backwards?
I think the whole thing should just be swept under the rug and let the boys play..:)
 
No suspenstion should be handed out to either player. What is this, powder puff football now? Osgood gave him a butt end for no reason, Ribeiro gave him a love tap in return. BIG DEAL. Osgood is, and always has been one of my favorites, but good lord man, are you taking diving lessons from Sidney Crosby these days? Hey, I'll come out and take a 95 mile an hour slap shot with a frozen rubber disk that breaks bones and not feel a thing with my mondern day hockey armor, but a love tap with a stick to the chest protector and I'm flopping like someone sniped me with a .50 cal from the upper bowl. :banned:

Sorry Wings fans, but he barely got what he deserved. He started it and he's lucky he only got a love tap in return. In the old days, the bench would have cleared and he would have had 18 players wanting a piece of his head. Stupid move, you just won to go up 2-0 in the series, act like you've been there before and go have a beer with the boys.

All he did was what most goalies do to slow down players coming to hit their defenseman. It wasn't a big deal. Ribeiro overreacted and Osgood faked an injury. Let's not make this sound like Osgood stabbed him in the face...

Come on now, Ribeiro wasn't going to hit anybody. When was the last time he even registered a hit in a game? The guys softer then McDonalds ice cream. Osgood put the butt end in his face, if he doesn't then nothing happens and both teams skate off the ice. If Ribeiro clocks him in the face or head like Simon did to Hollweg, different story. It was a whack to the chest protector, no harm no foul there. No reason whatsoever for anyone to even consider a suspension Ribeiro, and if the league wants to look at it as a suspendable offense, they better take Osgood for the same number of games or this league is officially a joke.

Should Osgood have let Ribeiro take a run at Lidstrom? With time running out he was coming into the corner about 100 mph so he slowed him up. Not the smartest way to do it but he know's if the Wings lose Nick to injury the whole season is up for grab's. I honestly don't see how what he did was anything worse than what Turco did the whole game! I agree Ribeiro didn't hit him hard and he did take a dive but I don't care if it's a goalie or not you don't swing the stick at anyone regardless!!
Osgood would have gotten a 2 min penalty for what he did Ribeiro got what he deserved which was a match penalty! If Ribeiro did what he should have he would have dropped the gloves and try and kick the crap out of him! You don't swing the stick like a candy arse!!

Are you serious? Drop the gloves with the goalie? That always works out real well doesn't it? Let me try to punch you through the metal grill attached to your football helmet, because we all know Osgood isn't taking his helmet off. Instead he's swinging with his blocker at you while you have all 5 Wings on your back.

Am I serious? Of course, swing at the guy with fists not a stick!! Get in his grill and tell him to drop the gloves but DONT SWING A STICK!! Plus I'd like to see a clear video of butt ending! How the heck is what he did using his stick as a weapon?!?!? You've been listening to idiot's like Melrose too much! He stuck his stick out and Ribeiro ran into it. You gonna tell me that deserves a 5 min than Turco deserved to be kicked out of the game for all the crap he pulled!
I don't think anyone deserve's to be kicked out but Ribeiro does deserve an arse kicking for being a wuss!!
 
There was no butt end involved at all. He simply stuck his blocker and stick out to slow Ribeiro down. It happens ALL the time in games. It just so happens the end of his stick nipped Ribeiro near the face. It was not a major foul. Like I said, Ribeiro overreacted and Osgood faked out. No one will get suspended and this will all go away. I'm sure Ribeiro will be a target in Game 3 though
