Who is backing up Carey Price?

Michael Leighton will be there man. Why not bring in a player that over achieved the last few months for a year or two. Or maybe trading for Justin Pogge. he is a goaltender that has been all over the league and could be used.

We had one and we traded him away :)

I can see ratcroft coming in myself, to see if he can mentor price, that is if he signs which the deal must be close for their decision on halak

Raycroft is only seven years older, and what experience, knowledge and technique would he actually bring to Carey Price?

I'd pass on that guy.

Carey has learned a lot (but sign a goalie in his mid 30's and someone who has won) since being drafted by the Canadiens.

1. Never make a mistake in Montreal.
2. No matter who comes in or leaves, it will always be Carey Price's fault
3. The Cap beat Halak, but it will always be Carey Price's fault.
4. Huet was traded to Washington because Carey ask the Habs to do that.
5. Carey asked Allan Walsh to make the big "play me or trade me" for Halak
6. Carey asked Jaro to make sure that every shot on him causes at least three more because of Jaro superb rebound control.

In the end people forget that Carey never asked for any of this.

Bottom line the Canadiens have 11 mil in space. DO you want to spend 4-5 of that on a goalie, or on a player who brings points to the ice. I'll take the forward, or Gonchar for 5 million Alex.

Happy Fathers Day to my fellow peers.

Great points....and Happy Fathers Day to you too!

I want that card in your sig

If you are the same guy who pulled it on utube then congrats to your son.

That was fun to watch.

Shane I will go out of the box and say why not talk Kolzig out of retirement, I hear Carey and him get along well, Flame away my friends

Hedberg, Biron or Niittymaki would be a good choice from the expirienced guys. Salary under 2 mil. and still good performances in the goal. Dont think they will trust Carey so much to bring only the back up golie from the minors.

I was hoping for that last season Chris, but the man is just too busy with Americans (guessing).

He would have been a perfect mentor (thumbs up, I'll give him a call).

Ref Trading Halak

I wondered for a while why didn't the Habs wait for an offer to get picks.

Then I read how much a 4-5 million dollar offer would have gotten them. A 1st rounder and a 3rd rounder. So in the end, the Canadiens got exactly what they would have in Eller and Schultz. Ellar may make the team this year. He already has one year of AHL experience so I accept Eller over a 2011 draft choice (right now it's easy to say that).

With almost every team in the NHL fighting the cap, I'm pretty sure that Carey Price will be safe to sign a three deal worth 2-3 million per annum. Improve the front, and sign the cheaper of the two goalies.

"I fought the cap, and the cap always wins". Shane Cougar OliCamp

MTL's problem is they don't need a tandem; they need a starter. it's fine to put the faith in Price but the half-half routine only works when the better goalie actually wins out. anything else is just short changing yourself and ruining 2 players.

Up until Halak and his agent played the "Play me or trade me" card (how did that work out for ya Jaro ), Carey was on pace for over 60 games last season.

So I guess I should have renamed the title to who is backing up Carey Price.

Ray Emery is available....Cant afford Leighton, Price will have Niitty envy....

I think they will bring up Desjardans from Hamilton and take the starting job after the AS break..

It seemed to work out for the habs. Halak played out of his mind and the habs barely squeaked into the playoffs with a tie on the last night of the season. Without Halak they would have missed the playoffs. I would also say that it worked out fine for Halak. He proved that he is a starter and has been moved now giving him a chance to play everynight. I don't think Halak cares if he is a starter in Montreal just as long as he is a starter in the NHL.

It will be interesting to watching the Habs this year. How will Price react to having all this extra pressure. He doesn't seem to handle pressure from the fans and media very well. If he starts to struggle especially at the beginning of the season the fans and media will eat him and the habs management alive. Hopefully it works out for him as he seems like a good guy and a great young goalie.
