Who is backing up Carey Price?

Price has a higher potential.

This sums it up.

The Habs took a big picture perspective. I like Halak and he is a good overall goalie. But over the course of time, who is the better goalie?

Those who say Halak are basing it on a short period of time where he was hot which also coincided as the overhauled Habs finally came together.

Those knocking Price are also basing it over this same short period of time.

When you put any feelings aside about whether he was overhyped coming into the league, whether you're a Habs fan or not, or whether Halak was hot or not, the bottom line is there is greater upside with Price over the long term.

Seeing as contracts are usually over the long term, the Habs made the right move.

It's true that Price had more trade value than Halak. A lot of people in this thread think Halak had the greater trade value simply because he was outplaying Price. But other teams, including the Habs, weren't taking that point of view.

Interesting that they have cut loose Moore, Metropolit, Bergeron, and Mara. No big losses there, though they are all decent players. I'll miss Moore's work ethic. Any team has been and will be lucky to have him.

There's no room for Bergeron and Mara as the defence is set as Subban is virtually gauranteed a spot in the top 6 making the PP even stronger and O'Byrne the #7.

Now the focus needs to be on the front lines. This is no real difference from last year and it wouldn't hurt Montreal to go after a top 6 foward to play on the first line with Gomez and Gionta.

I feel Frank that if Andre can find that goal scorers touch that all will be well this season, and they won't fall into the 8th place rather huddle around the four five position. There won't be any excuses of gelling or jelling because they've all been together for over a year.

I hope to see Maxwell and Pacioretty at about 20 points each, and use their size more. That's if they even make the team.

PK may help with Markov being out until Dec. PK's 8 pts in 14 games in the playoffs was very impressive.

As most fans feel the Habs will be a bottom feeder I see them doing just fine.
