Czechs with a big win over Russia.
I do have it on my bucket list to go to a World Championships some day in a foreign country... not sure when it will happen but looking forward to it.
Cory
It really is a fun tournament. When it was in town here it was the coolest atmosphere, as there were a LOT of international travellers that showed up. There'd be blocks of seats with fans from countries like Latvia and Slovenia. And they were LOUD. Chanting all game long, even if they were getting pummeled.
So stoked to see Finland hammering on Canada! As long as my country puts goons like Marchand and Perry on their roster I hope they lose. What a dirty play by Perry on Laine. Just embarrassing
When the player Canada chooses as captain is running around trying to injure Finlands best young player.... No, I can't cheer for that

Corey Perry did something stupid? Gee, color me surprised......
It's your right to feel how you want hen44jay, you don't have to answer to anyone for it. I think it's admirable to call out your own team/player for an act like that and not stand for it. Many questioned the decision to have Perry there in the first place, especially as the captain. You want your captain to lead by example the right way. Going after a kid like Laine who is poised to be the #1 or #2 overall pick is gutless and cowardly, but again, it's Corey Perry, not the person you think of when it comes to honor or class.
It is not TOTALLY defined by wins but I think good leaders help inspire and instill the WILL to win which translates into actual wins, yes.
Look at Justin Williams when he was with LA. Didn't wear a letter but I thought he was one of the most influential players/leaders on the team.
Perry wears an "A" but I see a lot of his chippy antics, he's a cheap SOB a lot of times. Highly skilled yes, but borderline player when it comes to sportsmanship and class.
So good leader? I don't think so based on what you guys are inferring, is that fair to say, wins aside?
But as Cory mentioned, he has the tenure, so there ya go...............
Corey Perry is a douchebag, plain and simple. I absolutely hate the fact that he is Captain of our National Team. I actually hope he gets suspended for the remainder of the tournament and that he never represents Canada on the World stage again. Sounds harsh but crap like what he pulled today has no place in sports.
Well, the Americans think your a.o.k. For not going for your own country because you dislike 2 of their players! All I have to say is go Canada go!!!
"The Americans"? Is this board becoming segregated like that movie "Ruskies"?
Be careful before flinging that poo poo. It's funny hearing people (Canadians) on here say they will only cheer for Canadian teams in the playoffs, people only posting Canadian team-specific info, the whole mod team being Canadian......
The bias is nauseating. All "The Americans" here give love to Canadian teams and players because we just identify hockey players and teams as good or bad, because we are just great hockey fans not USA-only hockey fans. I can talk hockey on a level with any well-versed Canadian. Heck most of my favorite players have always been Canadians and Euros, I don't see flags, I just see talent.
But I digress.
No one said it was "ok" for him to rip or not rip his country, the current discussion here is about Corey Perry (Marchand?) being a dirty player up to his usual slimeball antics on the ice. So what say you about that?
