because grebeshkov was one of the most improved players on the team last year, he's easy to teach and hes turning to be like a visnovsky type player good in back end and offensively and hes still young.
I'm all for Heatly going to the Oil. Not at the expense of any of their young Talent, Including Eberle.

The problem is though the Sens are going to want a comparable star (Hemsky, Visnovsky, Souray) or a top young player(Gagner, Eberle, Cogliano). If they don`t get one or the other the trade is not worth it. They won`t trade for a handful of spare parts (although Boston did with Thornton).
Can someone please tell me why the Sens won't just keep him and play him? If he plays on a subpar level, no one's gonna want him, and when it comes time for a new contract, he won't be getting as much $$.
So in 9 pages of this topic, nobody has really explained WHY Heatley requested to be traded. Yes Clouston is probably part of it, but can anything be done to please Heatley and keep him on the team?
I'm sure gunning for a great offensive D-Men would bring a lot of good to Ottawa, but at the same time offense was greatly lacking on that team for a good part of the year. I would think Ottawa could try and please Heatley and take a chance with the defense and goaltending next year (my local paper yesterday was stating that Heatley was annoyed by the fact he wasn't playing with Alfie and Spezza on the PP and sometimes playing on the 2nd line...dunno if that's true but it does make sense). But then again, it might be nice to have a great offensive D-Man to help develop young Erik Karlsson should he make the cut.
However, Ottawa already has a surplus of potential NHL D-Men. If they trade for a D-Man, they should consider moving at least one or two of potential third pair D-Men, such as Schubert, Picard, Lee...
I keep seeing people say "Heatley is a 50 goal scorer".
Heatley WAS a 50 goal scorer. Heatley hasn't even sniffed at 50 goals in two seasons, despite playing with two of the top fowards in the game in Alfie and Spezza. His numbers have decreased the last two seasons, and he's got a hefty price tag for any team that wants to take him on.
Although I`m a Leaf fan I can`t help but feel bad for the Sens.
Don't feel TOO bad for them, I guarantee they haven't felt bad for us over the past few years. Instead, take consolation in the fact that our franchise is finally in a better position than the Sens for the first time in a long time.

If he gets moved, the return would be astronominical, but I don't think anything will come of this. It was an off year, and unless he doesn't get along with Clouston, which was reported late in the year, I do not see this being true.
