Final Vault Contest

BruinsFan08;

I had the same feeling many years ago when I opened a cardboard pack as a youngster and pulled a Frank Mahovlich rookie from a pack of Parkhurst.

I still have the card over fifty years later, should have kept the wrappers I crumpled up at the variety store.

I didn't think that I was going to have more fun with this contest than the HI Board Members would.

But I was wrong, this is a blast. Over 20 years worth of work on display.

This is my favorite card from ITG. Why you may ask? It isn't the most sot after. It certainly isn't the most valuable. So why is this my favorite.? It is because Kjell had a very short career but still managed to win the Stanley Cup. It is my favorite because this ITG issue is the only issue that included memorabilia of any kind from Kjell. But most of all this is my favorite card simply because he is the only Dahlin to ever play in the NHL and we share the same last name.

(Image taken from ebay. Mine is in a box buried in the basement.)

By far my favorite break was this set. it was so shiny.

Thanks for the memories Dr. Price.

I have some very nice cards that can show the excellence that ITG had in their products over the years from H&P to Mem...but this card, I will show it whenever possible has started me on a near impossible quest to make a certain set...back from the days of BAP...I have seen one equal and only one better:

Odgers Tough Materials!

I truly enjoyed completing the autograph set of Franchises. I think I began by hoping to get just the Islanders but that grew into a challenge and I do have the complete set. Some great names.

My favourite card ever must be:

Phil was such a force in the 1972 Series and this card was a great addition to my collection.

Lots of gorgeous cards so far, and I am sure there are many to come.

Here is my contribution:

12-13 ITG Ultimate Memorabilia 12th Edition
Ultimate Art and Patch Gold 1/1

Thanks for everything Dr. Price!

Similar to Eli above, I have built my collection around the amazing ITG offerings over the years. That being said, I have chosen my favourite card, hands down, as it features my childhood hero and offers a patch size and quality that exists nowhere else in the hobby. I would love to know more about the jersey it came from though....:)

thx for the contest Doc. Lots of amazing ITG cards in my collection including many from the set that this one came out of but this was a major thrill for me to pull at the Royal Oak Elks Wednesday show here in suburban Detroit:

Some great pieces shown so far!!

This piece represents my Ultimate Emblem hoard quite nicely.

ASIDE

I hope you don't mind, but, I wanted to show 2 unique ITG cards that are connected. These happen to be the ONLY two Jack Portland autograph cards in existence and I was fortunate enough to come across them both and purchase them. And who is Jack Portland?? Jack happens to be a native of Collingwood (where I live), was an Olympian and is one of the few players who played with both Aurele Joliat AND Maurice Richard. Oh, and he's also my great, great, Uncle (through marriage) :))

I have to thank you, Dr. Price, for creating a company that offers collectors amazing pieces of hockey history such as these. If it wasn't for ITG, the hockey hobby would have missed out some incredible sets built for the true collector and would not have been able to have a family connection within the hobby I love.

Probably this one:

Was only collecting autographed Murphy cards at the time and foolishly let this one slide when it was pulled and listed on Ebay. Eventually, this card made me rethink my collecting parameters and gave me non-buyer's remorse. Since this was when you could see the IDs of winning bidders, I contacted the winner and asked them to keep me in mind should they choose to move it. A little while later, they did just that and I was able to right my wrong.

I really liked Millenium Signature Series (Though I never ended up with any of the GU unfortunately). But right up there as a rookie collector, was 03-04 Parkhurst Rookie, and one single in particular. Upper Deck kinda dropped the ball, and ITG ran with it.

Unfortunately, he didn't quite live up to the hype. But I tracked one of these down as soon as I could.
