Final Vault Contest

Thanks for the contest Dr. Price There has been a lot of great posts. I was a huge fan of the Parkhurst Original Six Toronto set and it took me a number of years to complete. Difficult to narrow it to one card but I was thrilled to add this gem to my collection.

I never really got into the high end stuff as it was usually out of my price range, still enjoyed putting together a few BTP sets. I always enjoyed seeing all the amazing pulls people would pull from ITG products.
This one isnt my card, but I remember seeing it on a show and tell thread, may not of even been these boards, I cant remember. But I always thought it was a cool Patrick Roy card.

Thanks for all the amazing products you've produced over the years Brain. Hope to see you still posting around the board every now and then.

Similar to Eli above, I have built my collection around the amazing ITG offerings over the years. That being said, I have chosen my favourite card, hands down, as it features my childhood hero and offers a patch size and quality that exists nowhere else in the hobby. I would love to know more about the jersey it came from though....:)

This might be the best card in this entire thread. I didn't think anything beat that Richard Cup sickness, but this is Filthy.

As an aside, I am shocked that the DR. Price card hasn't surfaced yet; I saw one pulled at the LCS back in the day!!!

I have quite a few ITG beauties in the old PC........without question this Bob wins by a country mile.

Thanks for all your contributons over the years to this great hobby Doc

My entry...Get ready to laugh.......

This one has a story. Back when I was at the Toronto Expo in around 2006, I had a talk with Dr. Price of ITG. He came to me in one of the card aisles to discuss a card idea. The idea was .... the concept of having a Made To Order card made with the collector included on the card. It would be a card that had your favorite player on it with a piece of memorabilia, plus a photo of the collector with their name on it, too. I told Dr. Price that it would have to be limited because once the redemption card was made, it wouldn't have any real $$ market value. Would you buy a card with some other collector's photo on it? Would you want a card with my ugly mug on it? Probably not. But a die-hard player collector would probably love it and never sell it anyway.

So was surprised and happy, when in the next ITG Ultimate product (UM8), Dr. Price introduced this new concept we talked about and called it a Made To Order "Hero" card. Limited to 5 made, a collector can send it in and have his photo and name on a trading card along with their favorite player and a memorabilia piece. These "Hero" Made To Order cards were also in ITG Ultimate 9 (only 3 cards in that product). I've been trying to get one for years. Have only seen a couple of the UM8 versions (have never seen an UM9 version), but they were always too high priced. I was finally able to get one in a big trade.

Here was the redemption card:

I sent it in awhile ago along with a mug shot of myself to get made into my own 1/1 card featuring my favorite player and ME!

Of course, I chose to feature the main player I collect, Marian Gaborik.

Even with my ugly mug on the front to the card, I think ITG and Dr. Price did a magnificent job!!!

So here is my finished 1/1 card featuring myself on it. It has finally come to fruition.

2007-08 ITG Ultimate 8 "MTO-Hero" Marian Gaborik & Curt Johnson 1/1

Yes, my hat says Gaborik with the number 10 on it!

Value of Redemption card before being redeemed: $400+

Value of finished card: Worthess to any other collector

Value of card to me: Priceless!!!

I can stop collecting now. Nah! It's too fun to collect. :D

Dr. Price has always looked out for the collector, and this card is a prime example of that!

Thanks again to Dr. Price and the ITG staff for making the first (and only) Hockey card featuring me!

Can wait to open some of the Final Vault for one last trip down ITG memory lane!

So many amazing cards in this thread! Seeing the card is great, but hearing from the collector as to why the card is special to them is even better. I'm also enjoying the "Director's Cut" commentary from Dr. Price about the player/card/set.

Here is a card from my PC representing another collector focused program by ITG; a VIP Membership card. Basically, collectors could send in box tops to be eligible for an annual VIP membership. Here is a link to a copy of the VIP Program rules.

Not only is it a great player with a sweet swatch, but the card also includes my name on the back as a VIP Member. A truly personalized card that is one of the favourites in my collection.

^^ I still have my ITG VIP membership card also, it's a Lidstrom with a red/white jersey piece. That was a cool, yet short lived ITG program!

I love seeing all these ITG cards back from when I was a kid until know. My favourite was from the history of hockey set and just the combination of the hand painted image and the memorabilia was just too good for me. Thank you Dr. Price for all the memories.

So many to choose from. I have Vezina and some great Richard pieces from various products but I have to go with my favorite ITG release of all time. 01-02 Ultimate Memorabilia. I loved how they are graded by BGS. The velvet pouches were also a great touch. I managed to complete the Yzerman rainbow off all 20 cards he was featured on. This one being my favorite......

THE CAPTAIN #/5

Thats my entry but I have to throw this one out there as a close second..

Love the history that links them all.

Gomaz;

Hard to argue with your selection.

A great card from one of hockey's greatest.

Thanks for your support over the years.

Back 12 years ago I had already been a fan of ITG for a few years already, mostly their vintage players. I especially loved their ITG Ultimate line and the introduction of the Made to Order line of cards which offered lucky recipients of the redemption card to send in and have made a unique 1 of 1 card of a player of their choosing. Needless to say I coveted one of these cards! So when Ultimate 5 came around I hit that product hard with 3 cases purchased. When the dust had cleared on my breaks I had 2 Paper Cuts, many awesome vintage pieces, and 3 redemption's for Made to Order cards! Including; 1 double, 1 triple, and 1 Complete Package. Below is my favorite of those 3 cards. The Howie Morenz double was featured in Beckett (PC), the Triple Rocket Richard has a new good home, and this Rocket Complete (PC) led to 12 other MTO cards in my collection. Thank you Brian for being the 'Ultimate' card manufacturer, and hobby ambassador, and blessing so many of us with so many great cards we couldn't find anywhere else. All the very best!

Because of ITG I currently have over 100 different and unique Rocket cards in my collection, but none tops my 1st Made to Order! :) -Mike
