Made To Order

One thing comes mind when talking about enforcers themed insert set...

How about taking something from UD and do it 10x better.

So how about this idea, Fight Straps from REAL enforcers (ie. Probert, Domi, etc) and make Autothreads styled card. So that enforcers would actually sign that piece of fight strap. This also could be done as double players card for some of alltime best fights, so Probert vs Domi and so on.

I like many of these ideas especially the "protect and serve" and the top 10 subset designs over the years and reintroduce them with new players/photos

I'd love to see a new Captain's "C" as well but have the longest serving captains in it ala Yzerman, Gretzky, Howe, Alfie ;)

Or how about Stanley Cup winning Captains Cs?
Or even better, Stanley Cup leaders triple cards with the C and both As of the players wearing the letters (it would be tough to fit on each card though...)

I like this idea. You could have cut windows for the swatches, in the shape of two "A"s and one "C" with the "C" window a bit larger than the other two and centered in the middle of the card.

I loved the Deep in the Crease insert theme from a few years ago. Logos would not be an issue (other than the rights to the masks) and you could finish up the rest of the teams that were left off the last time. You could also add game used where available.

I would also like to see a low numbered version of the Captains C return but with a little bit larger patch piece if possible, those were always very highly collected.
Yes, it would be nice if the "C" patch was bigger. But the "C" is only so big though. And if it was used on a "Captain's C" card in the past, there cannot be much left of it.

One idea I had was a card called "Speed Trap"...have a police car top (with sirens flashing) in the background. Feature some of the fastest skaters the league has ever seen.

I'm sure I'll have more ideas, but that is one I've had brewing for awhile. :D

Love the concept, but wouldn't the likeness or licensing be the major issue for two of the better combos? Semenko-Gretzky and Probert-Yzerman, aren't Gretzky and Yzerman exclusive?

Problem, meet solution?

Just a thought. I know ITG has done it with thier First Superlative, I believe.

- Blades Of Steel with a piece of the actual blade again, maybe even with a piece of the skate boot as a double memorabilia card.

I'll probably think of more, but this is one I would like to see especially with a solid vintage contingent.

How about a subset called "Heavy Hitters" featuring the league's biggest checkers?

(Yeah, I'm fishing for more ITG Clutterbuck cards.:))

Edit: Forgot to mention...Thanks for actually caring about collectors, and asking for input.

I personally love the idea but let's hear how others would feel pulling a Tie Domi patch or a Stu Grimson patch out of an Ultimate Pack.

Not saying your wrong, just looking for other opinions on this one as I have considered it many times.

I also was looking into a Tough Guys wax product but not sure there are enough collectors to make it work.

Brian Price

I would love to be able to get a duo patch or auto of the Bruise Brothers Kocur/Probert or Twist/Chase or Dave Brown or Kevin Kaminski. Oh man.

I'll stick my like father like son idea in here. NHL dad that has a kid in the NHL/AHL/CHL Ashtons, Ferraros, Bourques, Statsnys, Musils, Beukebooms, Nystroms, etc.

Ultimate patch/tag card.

Checklist would need to be modern, jersey needs a reebok logo.

A card limited to 4 or 5 so you can get a decent piece of shield in there.

Add to that a piece of the reebok logo.

Add a piece of the shoulder patch, imagine Flames fan going bezerk on a piece of there province flag or the Canada flag.

A nice piece from the emblem.

A tag piece from inside the jersey.

Picture of the player celebrating a goal in the backscene if possible.

Why not a onyx version with a stick nameplate in bonus while where at it.

like others protect and serve would be cool, a brothers inserts set, maybe expand famous lines idea as well and include some new ones.
I also enjoyed the blades of steel when that one came out,
i will come up with more down the road

Thanks for asking

How about this idea for the base set:

We have seen dufex as well as manufactured patches used for the base cards so how about something a little different. Stanley Cup winners only in the base set and instead of a manufactured patch, have a metal insert with the player's name on it to simulate the engraving on the Cup. Maybe somehow picture them with the Cup as well (might be hard to get that since team logos can't be used but Dr. Price has pulled off amazing things before) The metal material could be something similar to what you see used for the plaques you can by that have cards or 8x10's in them. I wish I had the time to design a mock up of what I'm getting at but unfortunately I don't.

Obviously there is no chance to get a real piece of the cup in there so why not try something like this and since it is only the base set, it doesn't have to include any kind of authentic memorabilia.

I want to see a Michel Bunny Larocque Leafs GU/auto or at least an auto. I also want to FINALLY see Dan Cleary have a GU card.

I think the MTO order cards are already great. Why not try a multi-player MTO autograph card instead of GU. That would be a cool concept.

I don't have a name for it but I like the idea of something along the lines of teams that have moved from ones state/county to the next.

Like
North Stars/Dallas Stars (ect....)

Two quick things. I am not too familiar with the packing of previous Ultimate, but if it has always been three cards, you could move it to 4?? Base, GU, AU, and AU/GU.

Also, and not sure it can even be done, but change the tinting of the actual plastic case; or create distictive borders. Gold, Silver and Bronze casings would sure mix it up a bit.....

I like this idea. How about calling it Moving Forward.....You can do a Mike Modano card with a North Stars jersey piece and Stars jersey piece. Or Ron Francis in Whalers jersey with a Hurricanes piece. I think it would be great.

The list would include:
North Stars/Dallas Stars
Whalers/Hurricanes
Nordiques/Avalanche
Jets/Coyotes

You could even do some of the old jerseys to new jerseys designs. A Past, Present, Future thing with an old star, current star, and a future star/#1 draft pick thats not in the NHL yet. You could take a lot of different angles on this one.

I think just a top line from each team with current players would be pretty cool. Dont get me wrong, I really like the vintage stuff but maybe top lines of present players would be cool

Calder Memorial Trophy dual, triple and sextuplet autos. For example:

Russian Trio: Ovechkin, Malkin, Nabakov

Starting Lineup: Malkin, Ovechkin, Kane, Brodeur, Leetch, Bourque

Rivals: Gilbert Perreault, Bobby Orr

Thanks for this opportunity, Dr. Price.
