Made To Order

I think it would be cool if along with made to order cards you have a sort of "prize" card say 9 and each card would be good for a box of ITG ULtimate from a specific year (assuming you can get hold of stock). How great would a box of ultimate be if you won another box of ultimate to break later!!!!

How about a set called tape to tape, each card would feature the assist and scoring leader on a team from a given season, perhaps a dual stick or even better dual stick blades.

I also like the idea of metal cards featuring the names of stanley cup winners engraved. Perhaps "etched in history" with the name and number of times they won the cup?

I think I just peed my pants reading this

I saw Youngblood as a kid but had no idea Keanu Reeves played a french goalie. Now I gotta rent it to see it all over again LOL

Frank, Keanu is from Canada and actually played goalie when he was younger. :)

And glad I cured your urinary blockage problem. :D

i also thought bringing back "Decades" with a TEN player memorabilia card would be prefect for the 10th edition of ultimate...
Man, those swatches would be microscopic with ten pieces on one card..

...and two-sided in a slab would not look good....my opinion.

+1 for all of these ideas.

1. An extremely limited insert set would be nice. Something numbered /10 or less. Everything nowadyas is GU this and auto that. Take it back to when inserts ment something.

2. To go along with the 'new NHL' a "Shootout Artists" set profiling the best shootout players in the league.

3. "Re-inventing the game" profiling players that have revolutionized the game. eg. First goalie mask, first slap shot, first butterfly goalie, first African-American player, first European player, etc, etc.

4. This one's just a title: "X marks the spot". X=10 for Ultimate 10th, get it. HAHA

5. A redemption for lunch/dinner with you, Dr. Price. At your expense of course. :D
Or better yet, a personal tour of your collection.

I really like this thread Dr. Price.

Some great ideas.

What about something like longest games/memorable games with memorabilia card set with atleast one player from each team.

Canada Cup 87 would be nice.

Maybe a set with players that almost made the whole team. Like the team was almost nothing without that certain player(s).

*Full player image cards when they wear tuxido. Maybe tuxidos worn at the Trophy awards?

*What about Ultimate emblem divided in two parts 1of2 and 2of2. And when you put the two together you get a big nice emblem piece together.

* Goalie stick set like: "passing the puck" or "handling the puck" or "pass the scorer" or "assist kings" etc. etc.

*A set with player that have fought big obsticles in their career/life.

*Most games without a point. :) Maybe no serious, but funny.

/Christofer

i just want a samsonov, maybe a former award winners set? like the trophy case cards in the superlative 2, but with just one player.

Another idea.....

There are always cards about the Original 6 teams...the Habs...the Leafs...

How about a subset on the first NHL Expansion of 1967??

Players and uniforms from those teams:

* California Seals (renamed Oakland Seals and later California Golden Seals; relocated to Cleveland as Cleveland Barons in 1976; ceased operations in 1978 with merger into Minnesota North Stars)
* Los Angeles Kings
* Minnesota North Stars (merged with Cleveland Barons in 1978; relocated to Dallas as Dallas Stars in 1993)
* Philadelphia Flyers
* Pittsburgh Penguins
* St. Louis Blues

Another idea:

An autograph set from Hockey Movies. Call it "Ice Picks from the Flix" or something not quite as lame as my suggestion. :)

Have autos of actors or players who starred in hockey related movies. Don't know if movie and/or actors licensing rights come into play and cause havoc, but would be cool. And if the actor/player is deceased, then a cut auto version.

Examples of autos that could be obtained and used:

Slap Shot
Paul Newman - Reggie Dunlop (Charlestown Chiefs player/coach)
Strother Martin - Joe McGrath (Chiefs GM)
Michael Ontkean - Ned Braden (Chiefs player)
Jennifer Warren - Francine Dunlop (Reggie's estranged wife)

Matthew Cowles - Charlie
Kathryn Walker - Anita McCambridge (Chiefs owner)
Melinda Dillon - Suzanne Hanrahan (Tommy Hanrahan's wife)
M. Emmet Walsh - Dickie Dunn (Charlestown sportswriter)
Swoosie Kurtz - Shirley Upton (Johnny's wife)
Paul D'Amato - Tim "Dr. Hook" McCracken (Syracuse Bulldogs captain)
Ronald L. Docken - Lebrun
Guido Tenesi - Billy Charlebois (Chiefs player)
Jean Rosario Tetreault - Bergeron
Christopher Murney - Tommy Hanrahan (Long Island Ducks goalie)
Myron Odegaard - Final Game Referee
Blake Ball - Gilmore Tuttle (legendary Federal League goon)

Joe Nolan - Clarence "Screaming Buffalo" Swamptown (legendary Federal League goon)
Cliff Thompson - Walt Comisky (Chiefs' bus driver)

If this were made I'd want to collect the whole set. That is an amazing idea, but I think the licensing for the movie title would probably be a little hard to get (am I right in assuming Dr. Price?). Awesome idea though.

I haven't read all five pages to see if this has been suggested, but in the non sports world, sketches have been all the rage. I'd like to see a limited number of sketches (I guess they would have to be headshots) added to the mix. Maybe 10 sketches as part of a subset highlighting Brian's personal choices for the greatest 10 players of all time...and MAYBE a blurb written by Brian as to what he thinks about that player or why he chose them and then have the back of the card autographed by Brian himself (and the artist, or course).

Furthering the idea, this year's BTP had the Net Brawlers II insert...an AWESOME 1/1 would be to have a gold version be the actual sketch used for the insert cards.

While I have enjoyed the "Personal Scripts" and "Nicknames" type of autograph sets over the years, I always felt that the concept of having the player write more than just their name on the card wasn't executed to its full potential. Why stop at a short statistical line or nickname?

I would love to see a set where the player is given a relatively large area to basically write or draw whatever they want. Perhaps a note to the collector who owns the card. Perhaps a hand sketch of a hockey scene. Perhaps a quote from a favorite movie or song. The possibilities are endless here -- as long as the player has a bit of creativity.

Ultimate Memorabilia would be the perfect set for such a concept -- the slabbed cards ensure that no one could tamper with what the player chooses to write or draw. In terms of logistics, you'd obviously want to keep the print run low (10-20 copies for each player) so that the demands of a set like this aren't too time-consuming. It'd really have to be hard-signed to work, and I would hope that parallels would be thrown out the window -- each card would be unique by itself and making little color variations would be totally superfluous.

I would like to see the Ultimate Archives concept come back, but maybe with an added hard signed auto or different available memorabilia put on the previously issed card styles.

For me the one card I have deemed as my favorite had been the Orr "goal" card where it's a triple memorablila card. Someone ahead of me already mentioned it but the top 10 goals or goals that changed the momentum swing of a series or Cup finals. Or the most memorable goals from the playoffs.....

-Like the Theoren Fleury goal when he was with the Flames.... after he scored he slid across the whole rink on his knees

-The Tikkanen goal that went top corner to clinch that game with the Flames

-The Gretzy goal where he rifles it top corner in one of the series

-There was that Yzerman goal top corner that went in...in a HUGE playoff series

-Maybe the Lafontaine goal in the longest overtime in playoffs

That sorta thing....

I would like to see the Paper Cuts & Memorabilia set return.

Also the idea of Real Heroes with cut autos is a great concept.

This:laugh:

I want to see a subset honoring the famous hockey arenas with any player like Maple Leaf Gardens, Nassau, the Forum, Boston Garden, the Spectrum, Madison Square Garden, Joe Louis Arena. Could make it a dual gu player piece/stadium piece ie a seat.

I really wish you can do something honoring the winter classic, I doubt it.

Would not mind seeing a hockey world championship set that not so many people follow because of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

I would love to see a low-numbered goalie themed subset in which every card features a piece of jersey or stick or pad with a distinct puck mark. It would focus on each goalie's saves, whether it is number of saves in a career, specific season or memorable game.

Combining the Journey concept with the Masks concept would be cool too. Have a memorabilia or auto card that features multiple images of a particular goalie in the different masks worn throughout his career.

Thank you for this opportunity. It is great that someone values the opinions of the collectors and that our ideas actually go into the products that we buy!
