Made To Order

Personally, I would love to see an autograph set of the players who have won the most Stanley Cups, each card individually numbered to the number of cups they won. Conversely, you could do a similar set for the top players who have never won a cup.

Speaking of the cup, how about a Quest for the Cup subset, each with a game used jock piece. Oh god, just had a vision of pulling one of them *shudder* :dead:

Just though of something like a "Winner take-all showdown" dual auto or memorabilia of starting goaltenders who have faced each other in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final

Idea for a set in Ultimate:

"Call it a Career" Dual game used piece
gu piece of team that drafted him / gu piece of team he retired with

eg)
Marcel Dionne
Drafted: 1971 Wings
Retired: 1989 Rangers

Could have a base gu set numbered to the players number /16 (his jersey number) and a 1/1.

Players in the set:
Dionne /16, Lafleur /10, Messier /11, Hawerchuk /16, ....

I haven't read all five pages to see if this has been suggested, but in the non sports world, sketches have been all the rage. I'd like to see a limited number of sketches (I guess they would have to be headshots) added to the mix. Maybe 10 sketches as part of a subset highlighting Brian's personal choices for the greatest 10 players of all time...and MAYBE a blurb written by Brian as to what he thinks about that player or why he chose them and then have the back of the card autographed by Brian himself (and the artist, or course).

Furthering the idea, this year's BTP had the Net Brawlers II insert...an AWESOME 1/1 would be to have a gold version be the actual sketch used for the insert cards.

This is a great idea Ryan...building on it more, I like the idea of a Made to Order sketch card, where an artist draws a sketch specifically to the redeemer's needs, drawn such so that a piece of memorabilia can slot in (or pieces if there are more than 1 player) if ITG owns memorabilia for them.

So this would be a cool spot for a redeemer to re-enact their own personal favorite moment with little restrictions since it's an artist's card they're having put together with original content.

If Ultimate 10 is about the customers coming up the product, make it that much more personal and customizable :)

Another idea:

An autograph set from Hockey Movies. Call it "Ice Picks from the Flix" or something not quite as lame as my suggestion. :)

Have autos of actors or players who starred in hockey related movies. Don't know if movie and/or actors licensing rights come into play and cause havoc, but would be cool. And if the actor/player is deceased, then a cut auto version.

Examples of autos that could be obtained and used:

This might be cool, if it was kept to the characters who actually played hockey. Alot of the non-hockey playing characters would be beyond disappointing I think.

How about a redemption ( now stay with me here) for an actual Full game used jersey of a player? Pick 10 players of reasonable stardom , randomly insert into packs. I think that would be a great promotion.....

There was a program in (I believe) 04-05 Ultimate where if you collected base cards with letters to spell out "ULTIMATE MEMORABILIA," you won full gear of players like Mario Lemieux and Brett Hull...so it's sooorrrrttttta been done already :)

Hey Brian, thanks for allowing us to submit ideas on what we would like to see in Ultimate's 10th Anniversary! I am a huge Vezina fan so I'd like to see some sort of Vezina set again. Possibly a 10 card set of his 10 best performances and you could have a swatch of one of the opposing players from those games??

Also, I am not sure if this is a possibility or not, or even if it's ever been done before but a change to your MASK cards by adding an actual piece of the goalie's mask in the card... there would be some pretty cool looking pieces I am sure that would garner some huge attention....

Thanks again Brian for considering everyone's ideas... :D

Rod

What about doing a special card set with a stick made of silver embedded in the card and the 1/1 being a gold stick in the card.

Ticket to stardom with signed stanley cup tickets or if possible a piece of ticket from the players first game.

Riding the bench.... with game used bench :P

- Blades Of Steel with a piece of the actual blade again, maybe even with a piece of the skate boot as a double memorabilia card.

I'll probably think of more, but this is one I would like to see especially with a solid vintage contingent.

Agreed! I would love to see the vintage Blades of steel like the 4th and 5th editions.

enforcersonly

I personally love the idea but let's hear how others would feel pulling a Tie Domi patch or a Stu Grimson patch out of an Ultimate Pack.

Not saying your wrong, just looking for other opinions on this one as I have considered it many times.

I also was looking into a Tough Guys wax product but not sure there are enough collectors to make it work.

Brian Price

I would be stoked if I pulled patches like that. Please make a McSorley patch please!

Really liked the first post in the thread about a new 'Country of Origin' subset... definitely doesn't have to (and shouldn't!) look like the old one, but the more flag you can put on the design part of the card the better.

I kinda like the 'protect and serve' idea, but PLEASE don't call it Protect & Serve. Make it right, like the police motto: 'To SERVE and PROTECT'. Gotta have it the right way. The other way around would sound really amateur, no offense.

Personally, and from a completely selfish point of view, I'd love to see Mark Messier included in the Made to Order subset. That's the only thing that's stopped me from buying one already. And it seems to me that you've got lots of Messier memorabilia lying around, so I'm not sure why he hasn't been included so far. If there's a reason that's preventing it though, that's cool.

And one other thing... is there any possibility of more dufex cards? Dufex with memorabilia in them would be awesome as long as there wasn't a problem with them coming out all chippy. I know they must be expensive to make too... but I really like them. :D

Matt

All Star Ticket (or any other SIGNIFICANT game) autos. Real tickets with the autos on them. THAT would be awesome (unlike the fake tickets from that other company).

MORE MORE MORE auto emblems/numbers.

Cards I'd love to see... Gordie Howe/Rocket Richard dual cut auto, Plante/Sawchuk dual cut auto, Don Cherry/Ron Maclean dual auto

"Cards I'd love to see... Gordie Howe/Rocket Richard dual cut auto, Plante/Sawchuk dual cut auto, Don Cherry/Ron Maclean dual auto"

Gordie Howe still has an exclusive with Upper Deck.

A head to toe card, dressed for success, helmet/visor,jersey/patch,stick, pants, sock, skate, tp it off with an auto version, that would be sick, pretty much like a complete packkage but different card layout

Also do goalies regularly change their cage? It would be sick to see cage cards, like an inside the mask set

Is it next year that UD cant have any exclusives?

Don't know if this one's been suggested (lost track of reading this entire thread), but I'm going to go with a total homer suggestion...

A History of American Hockey Heros

Each card has a vintage game-used piece of a retired great american-born player and either a game-used or auto of a current american-born player. It would focus on NHL players and not necessarily just national team players. I like the suggestions of 'Top-Tens', too, so maybe it could be ten players (ten all-time greats and ten current/future stars). It could obviously get more vintage than just a Hull-Parise dual or a Leetch-Fowler dual, but those could work as examples...

Like I said, total homer, but it would be nice to get a nice high-end set focused on American-born NHL heros!
