The Official Trade Deadline Thread.....

Time will tell I guess, but I still think Tampa will come out ahead....;)

Hey, they very well may come out ahead. If Mike Smith solidifies their goaltending for the next 5+ years than great. But I still think Richards is twice the player Jokinen is. Literally, double lol

Meh, you're biased 'cause you're a Lightning fan and I'm biased because I met Richards once and thought he was an ignorant hillbilly who was dumber than a bag of pucks :D LOL

I will give Dallas credit...they solidified for a playoff run and finally got a 2nd line center to play with Modano...they can roll two effective lines now for sure...

The Ottawa Senators have aqcuired forward Martin Lapointe from the Blackhawks in exchange for a 2008 6th round pick

Tony's happy now.. ;)

I'm not a Lightning fan.

I'm a ..... gasp...... Leafs fan

If Boucher and Zubov are both healthy and playing at 100% for the playoffs, does this now make Dallas the favorites out of the West over Detroit, Anaheim, and San Jose?

wade belak for a 5th is toronto's only deal so far...why did we hire cliff fletcher? it seems liek a waste of time so far, he better do something else before the deadline

Maybe you didn't realize his hands are tied considering they have 5 NO TRADE CLAUSES and all 5 have refused to waive them.

Really?now way.

Obviously. What I'm saying is that cliff's time is being wasted wit hall the no trades, he has other guys he could potentially move, if belak is all we move then i don't see why we needed cliff at all.

Well... as for the other guys being traded:

- Ponikarovsky is hurt right now.
- The young guys, Steen, Tlusty, Stralman, Pogge, Kulemin etc are worth keeping.
- Toskala shouldn't go anywhere, especially considering the market is set by the Huet deal. Nobody would be happy with trading Toskala for a 2nd round pick. Plus nobody else needs a goalie.

So really theres only Antropov, Stajan, Gill and Kilger. Antropov may fetch something but he's signed for another year.

The team can still make trades in the offseason.

Sometimes the best trade you make is the one you don't. No sense is just making a trade for the sake of making a trade.

You needed Cliff, because JF's time as a scapegoat was up. It was too easy for people to kick him when he was down. Bring in a fresh punching bag and let media and fans have at it....

how long before the end of the monoploly party ?
Olivier

As far as I know, they can keep on moving until 3pm EST - then they're locked until the off season. It wouldn't be the first time people have been dealt all over the place anyway ...

bahah we got more for Belak than Chicago did for Lapointe!

Belak > Lapointe

Very happy to see Marty leave town, another $2.4 million in cap room for the Hawks now. A 6th round pick is just fine and dandy with me.

Hey, Daniel Alfredsson was a 6th rounder wasn't he? I'd take him. :dizzy:

I'd take Paul Ranger too, another 6th rounder.

Marek Zidlicky, Jussi Jokinen, bring on those 6th round picks!!!!

Problem is, the Hawks usually take some guy in the 6th round who can't tie his own skates.

Tony, the Hawks aren't the only team that takes a 6th round bum.

In fact, generally, 29 teams take a 6th round bum every year.
