The Official Trade Deadline Thread.....

Well... as for the other guys being traded:

- Ponikarovsky is hurt right now.
- The young guys, Steen, Tlusty, Stralman, Pogge, Kulemin etc are worth keeping.
- Toskala shouldn't go anywhere, especially considering the market is set by the Huet deal. Nobody would be happy with trading Toskala for a 2nd round pick. Plus nobody else needs a goalie.

So really theres only Antropov, Stajan, Gill and Kilger. Antropov may fetch something but he's signed for another year.

The team can still make trades in the offseason.

Sometimes the best trade you make is the one you don't. No sense is just making a trade for the sake of making a trade.

I'm just mad sundin wouldn't waive, and why did tucker ever have a no trade clause?

there are tlaks of kubina beign available and mccabe may go if it's the Isles i think.

I actually liked Belak, no we have a fairly poor team without an enforcer, and we are playing well now too boot, so there goes a draft position or two, same thign year after year after year after year.

In this day and age I am actually a bit humbled with Sundin. I absolutely cannot stand the Leafs, and always thought Sundin got away with a lot of cheap stuff, but what he said and what he is doing is highly respectable. With all the rent-a-players, money grubbing snails, etc in the sports world he is one guy who took less to stay with a team he loved. I would be ticked with the front office for not getting the right pieces in place around him. He is a devoted guy and I don't fault him at all for holding to his principles.

And as you said you are not a leafs fan.

Sundin has been a great leader, the only way I will not mind this is if he comes back AT LEAST next year, if he jsut up an retires, i will not be a happy fan. I may be called slefish but if he retires i find it selfish of him not to go somewhere else for a few months to help the future of the team he's so dedicated and loyal to.

Anyway, i really hope they can land a 1st 2nd or 3rd pick at least before the end of the day, ro a prospect, we need to rebuild.

In Gainey We Trust, In Gainey We Trust...

When I heard of the deal I have to say that I was in complete shock that Cristobal was dealt. That said, Gainey never really sounded like he was going to resign Huet in the off-season. Of course, he held onto Souray last season so it's not like there wasn't a history of him not dealing trading chips. That said...a 2nd rounder? I know the goalie market has been horrid this season but still. The only thing I can figure is that the pick will be flipped to Atlanta for Hossa or elsewhere. This can't be the only deal the Habs do today.

What's with the retro-do for the Avs?! Sure it brought them a cup in 96 - I'm not so sure they'd do it again TWELVE years later ..

I was never too happy they got rid of Foote, so not sad to see him back...he is a tough defensive defenseman, which is something the Avs need right now.

ESPNews is reporting Adam Foote to none other than... Colorado. Details on the Columbus end still pending.

The Caps aren't messing around, and honestly, the way that division has been, they really just needed a little extra to get over the hump and win it, they may have done that today...I am interested to see how Fedorov works in with them and who they pair him with.

Not terribly suprirsed at the Cooke for Pettinger trade. Pettinger hasn't done jack for the Caps all season, and Cooke seems to be a pretty solid player, in my limited experience watching/hearing about him. Caps are definately looking to make a run for it this year. :D

I'd actually like to see the Caps get in...with the excitement that Ovechkin brings to the game, it will be a lot of fun to watch them in a playoff atmosphere.

Cooke has done nothing this season... 0 goals
Besides being the pest he hasent done much
So the Canucks trade is bassically nothing for nothing...
JUst my 2cents
